Most BASICally Awesome!!!  With special citation for a performance that charmed the general public but that thoroughly confused the heck out of Dartmouth’s current sitting President and most Coders in the room…

Dreamiest!!!!

When I think of it,
the spirit works within me,
may such blessing come.

There once was a class from the seventies,
Their dreams were bigger then verities,
The years roled away,
Age had its sway,
But now the dreams are of legacies.

Ode to the “77s  (with apologies to Robert Burns and his “Ode to a Haggis”)

Fair fa our honest, sonsie face

Great ’77 chieftans of the Dartmouth race

Aboon them all we take our place

Smart, witty, successful…-Old!

Weel are we worthy of such grace

If truth be told!

38 years since Dartmouth days did we fill

Though graduation seems like a distant hill

Jobs, kids, friendships subsequently we sought to till

A lifetime of warm memories poured out indeed

While through the years the dews did distill

Like a Beta tap over-flowing with amber bead

Our Dartmouth years saw rustic dight

As professors filled us with profound insight

Trenching our gushing brains bright

Like onie ditch

And then oh what a glorious sight

We set out round the girdled earth smart, sure, with friendships rich

Unbridled optimism we planned to soar on the global pitch

Then year after year, we did stretch and strive

Deil take the hindmost, our pursuits and passions we did drive

Stumbles came, successes more- happiness by and by

Now 60, some of our bodies are tired, worn- bent like drums

But the old guildman’s call to slow it down, we steadfastly deny

We thinkits our youthful voices still ready to sing in Dartmouth’s spring hums

Is there that owre his Harvard made ragout

Or Princeton olio that wad staw a sow

Or Yale fricassee that would make one spew

Wi perfect scunner

We proud Big Greeners look down wi sneering, scornful view

On sic a college education dinner

But well nourished are we 77’s, Dartmouth fed

Around the girdled earth, we have have excelled and led

And from our ranks, now comes our friend, Dartmouth’s current head

We know He’ll  make the old college whistle

Proving to us all that at 60, we are not just old retreads

But active greeners, ready to launch our next life’s missle

Ye Powers wha mak mankind your care

And dish them out their bill of fare

Auld Dartmouth crafted our 77 class with flair

And if you want a good deed done or excellence bar none

Give a call for a 77- we are the ones to get it done!

Most CORNINGy but Sweet

and true and made most of us think of our dear mums and shed a tear or two…

Peter Volanakis

With three score down; now creeping up on the end

The meaning of life consumes me time and again

I reflect on the blessings of children and fame,

Of fortune and beauty and sweetness and pain,

Of playing a cog-like role on humanity's train

But no, those aren't it at all in the end

It's what my mother said to me ad nauseum

So, here it is, wait for it then,

The Secret of Life---

"Go outside and play with your friends"

Joy

sixty years is not a lot

as i think about the past

but seventy seems too far away

as though i may not last

but if i do and when i can

say just what i will

i'll ne'er forget my joyous past

at the college on the hill

for friends and foes alike can dream

about their conquests nigh

but i for one will bow and smile

at memories on high

that highest point in life so far

will take me where it will

and i'll ne'er forget my joyous past

at the college on the hill

for now it seems a moment ago

that fate blessed me with you

my friends would laugh

indeed they do as i am foolish still

beyond this world i know not what

but then perhaps i do

and i will cherish  all i've learned

throughout my days with you

that shining light

shine on me still

and bless the course so true

for i will stay that course ahead

that brings me back to you

and i'll ne'er forget my joyous past

though some would bet i will

as i live on i will always smile

at my college on the hill
